In totally unrelated news: this cat knows when you're gonna die

This cat has an uncanny ability to know when someone at its hospice is going to travel to the great beyond. Rocking.

(Thanks Shada)

We've got a similar situation over on the coast. This cat doesn't curl up with the person, but sits outside their door.

Such a trip. We joke all the time about our cats, totally anthropomorphizing them and making jokes and putting words into their mouths -- but you see stuff like this and start to wonder at their depth all over again.

I read a version of this article on the bbcnews website this morn. . . neither report thought it worth pondering that "oscar" might just be there energetically, for the dying person's ease/peace as they passed. how very human to tag him as a "grim reaper" or "psychic" predicting death, instead of allowing for an intuitive connection to the cycle of being and not-being. . .

I have it live bookmarked :-) But, in general, I'm very careful about any news consumption as you know.

But when I do news, it's BBC or Economist mostly (also British of course).

This is a really cool story, but yeah, the media sucks for spinning him as the kitty grim reaper. People just get weirded out by things they can't explain/understand, I guess.

Cowtao!
and I agree...really do wish the media would give more credit to animals on things like this. I'm a self professed crazy cat lady, but they really do have more of an emotional range than most think.

Never would have guessed that this post would garner so many comments. It's just a little post, no picture.

Buncha crazy cat people, me included.

This cat is killing people! Can't anybody see it?

I'm kidding. Honest.

ROFL leave it to Reverencia to come up with the best punchline. . .
Let me be the first to link the comments here to the recommended book in bp's recent post, "the biology of belief." humans are limited to what they "think" they know, and everyone's looking from their own perspective/angle (and creatin' their brainsoup from the resultant "thoughts" lol)
(um, haven't read the book, but yeah, played the game)
