Man, this blog is all personal lately, with babies and birthdays and whatnot. Sheesh.
Anyhoo, I turn 38 today. No real feelings about that, the incoming child is a much bigger deal to me.
I share this birthday with Jimmy Carter and, of all people, The Virile Vampire. Who'd a thunk it.
After digging a bit more, I found that Youssou N'Dour also shares this birthday. Frankly, that's groovier than the other two by far.
Ok, lets get even cooler. Annie Bessant -- socialist, President of the Theosophical Society, womens' suffrage supporter, and general badass.
There are more, but it's late (the night before -- this is posted by autoblogbot) so I'll call that good.

In support of my reputation as a font of musical trivia, interesting or not:
Neneh Cherry is daughter of jazz trumpeter Don Cherry. Cherry the elder was part of the groundbreaking Ornette Coleman Quartet. Cherry joined Coleman, bassist Charlie Haden, and drummer Billy Higgins in 1959 to make some of the most radical jazz before or since, starting the free jazz movement with the album The Shape of Jazz to Come.
And a serious looker to boot.

For the historians among us: this date in 2000 was the second day of a trip on which BPaul and your humble correspondent traveled to the Steens Mountain area in southeast Oregon. We fidhed the magnificent canyon of the Donner und Blitzen River on the first day, and the Malheur second.
The high point of the trip was our introduction to Chief Many Pains, who guided us through that wild country and for whom the camp in the wilds of Walla Walla, WA (birthplace of Adam West. POW!)
Don't forget that you share a birthday with NASA.
