Water, the new oil

A quick read for folks interested in the current state of water resources and their privatization. There are many links to stories and actions one can take about the problem of corporate control of natural resources, water specifically.

Enjoy a quick morning reminder of your global citizenship,

While bottled water may be the most obvious abuse, bear in mind that every beverage you purchase is mostly water. Coke, Pepsi, et al are using the same water sources to make their other beverages.

A focussed consumer effort to fight the mentality that resources are freely available for commercial consumption and to guarantee that we will have low cost drinking water for the future is to boycott ALL of these commercial beverages: bottled water, soft drinks, bottled tea, childrens' juice "drinks" ...

The forces of exploitation arrayed against private individuals are so vast that every person must become an activist, and every person must have 360-degree awareness of the issues around them. This will be hard -- we each have to break habits and overcome inertia.
