Righteous moth predicted, and found, in Madagasgar

Here is a great video clip about the Darwin's Comet Orchid, and its requisite pollinator. When he first encountered this bizarrely formed orchid, Darwin predicted a pollinator, probably a moth, with a 12" proboscis. Yet again, he was right.

Enjoy ginormous aerial pollinators, and the predictive capacity of science,

Do yourself a favor and watch David Attenborough's wonderful series on Insects, a dvd put out by BBC -- he too has filmed this fabulous moth. Can't say enough about the guy's remarkable retention of information and purely guileless style. Wow! va momma

I saw this on a special about what is involved in taping "Nature", it was crazy. The guy that finally got the footage sat in the brush with his camera going for like six hours. Trying not to scare off the big nosed moths. Haha
