My understanding is that mushrooms very much pick up radiation and are strongly affected by contamination. I've heard strange rumors coming out of Russia and northern Europe... of mushrooms that used to be good to eat no longer being safe, but also of mushrooms that used to be poisonous now being safe.
I don't know what to believe, but the stories are a trip.
I can believe it. English russia is a good site for weird random Russian facts.. the one i found weird was an interview with people still living within the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. Supposedly they are the ones perpetuating the Vodka removes radiation myth :P
