Take a bus to the coast

Did you know you could take a bus to Cannon beach, and then to Tillamook and then to Oceanside -- all on the same ticket? The Tillamook County Transportation District sells round trip tickets to the coast from Portland for $35. That ticket lasts you the day, and includes bipping around to Oceanside/Netarts, Manzanita/Cannon Beach, and Pacific City.

Be careful though, there is a rider alert -- check it out:

RIDER ALERT
All routes are running according to schedules.

Oh no, not that!

I love it.

Enjoy finding out ways to get out of town for uber-cheap,

Bp

Part of the appeal of going to the beach has to be bringing a dog. Even if you don't own a dog, you should borrow a neighbor's dog when you hit the coast (hint, hint bp). There is nothing quite like the look of ecstasy on a dog's face in a full open run on the beach. Or maybe i could invest in some clothes, sunglasses and a hat and pass the dog off as my hairy aunt Mildred.

The bus also takes BIKES! So it can make for a fun weekend bike hotel or camping trip. Beware of riding on 101, I took my first trip on that hwy and between the hurried hipster kids and retirees in brick-shaped mobile homes it is quite dangerous.
